Cardiff (Cardiff Daily) October 5, 2026 – TVC Technology Solutions has completed a comprehensive and ambitious audio-visual installation for the newly launched Hollywood Bowl Cardiff XL entertainment venue in the UK, establishing a technologically sophisticated multi-space leisure environment that spans across two distinct levels of the complex.

What Core Requirements Drove the AV Design at Hollywood Bowl Cardiff XL?

Building upon a long-standing commercial relationship with the Hollywood Bowl Group and its various entertainment sites across the nation, TVC Technology Solutions was tasked with executing its most extensive and complex integration project for the group to date. As detailed in reporting from Inavate, the venue required an immersive, highly flexible technology ecosystem capable of unifying diverse entertainment offerings, including traditional bowling, indoor karting, a social lounge, dining facilities, and multiple functional social spaces.

The primary operational brief mandated a system capable of supporting the complete customer journey from arrival and reception through to core activity areas. Specifically, the technology had to seamlessly distribute live sports broadcasts, targeted marketing content, real-time leaderboard statistics, promotional karting clips, and pre-race safety briefings simultaneously across different zones. Furthermore, the installation required robust yet discreet audio distribution alongside simplified employee control interfaces designed to withstand high-volume commercial trading periods.

How Was the Visual Display Architecture Structured Across the Venue?

The visual backbone of the Cardiff XL location relies on 26 advanced Philips commercial displays, strategically partitioned into specific function groups. According to Inavate‘s coverage, the main bar area incorporates four 49-inch landscape displays dedicated to broadcasting live sports and marketing materials, while the reception area utilizes four portrait screens configured for customer-facing digital signage.

Additional portrait displays manage prize distribution and leaderboard updates throughout the venue. To further enhance engagement, four 50-inch Philips displays positioned around the central lounge columns showcase live sports, marketing feeds, and live camera feeds from the karting track. A four-screen 49-inch videowall situated beside the pool tables provides a larger visual canvas, complemented by a secondary four-screen sports wall located in the basement party and karting zone.

For the karting briefing area, TVC integrated a dedicated 65-inch display outfitted with a streamlined two-button control mechanism, enabling staff to initiate health and safety instructional videos effortlessly. Additionally, a 55-inch high-brightness, dual-sided digital poster was installed in the venue window facing Hills Street, providing an outward-facing promotional platform for both pedestrians and incoming guests. A separate 55-inch digital totem functions as a dynamic, freestanding leaderboard within the venue.

What AV-over-IP Infrastructure Powers Content Distribution?

To manage the complex routing of video feeds across multiple displays, TVC deployed a comprehensive WyreStorm NetworkHD AV-over-IP platform. The technical architecture incorporates nine encoders, 12 decoders, a dedicated NetworkHD Pro Controller, and managed Netgear network switches.

The system distributes content from four Sky television boxes, four independent marketing sources, and the core karting computer feed across the IP network. This configuration grants venue staff the flexibility to route live sporting events, promotional branding, or racing content to tailored display groupings dynamically, removing the operational limitations associated with traditional single-source hardwired setups.

How Are Audio Zones and Acoustic Clarity Managed Throughout the Complex?

Audio integration was engineered to deliver high-impact sound while mitigating bleed between adjacent activity spaces. TVC established 12 independently managed audio zones across the facility. Across the 20 bowling lanes, Audac Vexo 110 loudspeakers deliver the necessary acoustic output and headroom to project music, sports commentary, and venue announcements above ambient bowling noise.

In the lounge, dining, pool, darts, and private party spaces, a combination of Vexo and Alti loudspeakers provides balanced acoustic coverage. The karting environment utilizes Vexo loudspeakers across reception, waiting areas, and the track itself, while compact Vexo 106 models are positioned specifically within the briefing area to maintain high speech intelligibility.

System control is centralized through Optimal Audio Z8 and Z4 digital signal processing (DSP) controllers, Audac amplification units, PAD4 wall controllers, and two portable iPads. These interfaces allow staff to manage source selection, background music playlists, Sky audio feeds, karting audio, and wireless microphone systems. B-Tech mounting hardware was utilized throughout the venue to ensure secure, discreet, and serviceable installations for all videowalls, portrait screens, and central lounge displays.

Background of the Development

The completion of the Hollywood Bowl Cardiff XL project represents a continuation of the leisure sector’s ongoing evolution toward fully integrated, multi-activity entertainment hubs. In recent years, traditional bowling alleys across the United Kingdom have transformed into experiential hospitality destinations that combine classic recreation with competitive socialising concepts, such as indoor karting, interactive gaming, and premium dining. Supplying these expansive venues requires sophisticated commercial AV infrastructures capable of managing synchronized digital signage, multi-zone audio balancing, and high-definition video distribution over standard IP networks. TVC Technology Solutions has previously partnered with the Hollywood Bowl Group on multiple regional sites, steadily scaling up its technical capabilities to meet the demands of larger, multi-level entertainment complexes like the Cardiff XL installation.

For the commercial audio-visual integration sector and leisure operators across the United Kingdom, this installation highlights the growing operational necessity of flexible, IP-driven technology ecosystems in modern entertainment venues. As consumers increasingly expect personalized, multi-screen environments during leisure outings, operators of large-scale venues will likely continue adopting scalable AV-over-IP platforms and centralized zone-management tools. For Hollywood Bowl Cardiff XL and its visitors, the deployment of robust digital signage, dynamic leaderboards, and targeted multi-zone audio ensures a streamlined, immersive guest experience that can adapt fluidly to high-capacity events, live sports broadcasts, and private functions without operational friction.
